It's hard to say goodbye

My dearest teacher and friends,
This is our last journal. In spite of sadness, it's time to say goodbye now. We have been together for four months, we gradually knew each other quite well. We studied together, played together and enjoyed our meals together. It's really a piece of unforgetful experience for me. Time past fast, four months have been gone in the twinkling of an eye. I will go back to my homeland in four days, but I am sure I will be back next semester. So I am so glad that I can meet some of you again.

During these four months, I not only met a lot of friends, but also learned much English knowledge. I remembered that when I came here, I hadn't learned English for almost two years. English seemed so unfamiliar to me. However, I learned a lot of strategies in writing academic essays. For example, we should use different writing systems and styles in writing different kinds of essays. Before I studied here, I thought what I should write is what I wanted to say, without any strategy. Thank you, Sean, for helping me a lot.

However, I still have a long way to go. I just have been here for four months, and I should practice more about what I have learned in order to be proficient. There is an old saying said: Practice makes perfect. I absolutely argee with it. Whatever how much you have learned, you must practice a lot, or they are all totally useless. Besides writing skill, I should also try hard to improve my other three aspects, especially speaking. But I am not afraid of difficulties. I will try my best to make them better.

This semaster will end quite soon, but I maybe will still in this class next semaster. Hope to see you, Sean. I hope all you guys can enjoy your Christmas vacation. Whether you will stay in Cal State Fullerton or transfer to other universities, I wish you could have a good studying time there. Keep in touch. Best wishes to you and your families~

Reaction to the movie

When I watched the movie, the most impressible scene is the one related to chickens. I had to cover my eyes because I really was scared of it. I am an absolutely animal protector, I tried to protect every kinds of animals.

In the movie, the chickens are quite small, maybe they are only one or two weeks. They haven't enjoyed their lifes, but what they will face is nothing but death. From my perspective, it's absolutely unfair for them. Besides human being, they are living beings, too. They also have the right to live, to enjoy their lifes. I don't mean we can't kill any living things. Maybe we can wait for some years, after their natural death. We also can eat chickens and other animals, merely give them enough time to comfort themselves.

Sometimes humans are too cruel. I often think about that why they can kill living things without guilty. They are like humans, they also have mum, dad; they also know pain; thay also can feel the hopeless of being alive. When I was in China, I joined the association which aims at protecting little animals. We tried our best to save their lifes, to provide a place for them to live, to give them some basic food in order to not let them to be hungry. This reminds me of a piece of news I read on the Internet: some people killed a tiger on the street, and others watched the whole process with smile on their faces. I really feel humiliative of them. On second thought, if we can't protect them, at least we should not hurt them.

The scene of chicken in the movie really touched me. The importance of life to everybody, including all the living beings, can never be exaggerated. I hope we can realize this and join the protectation of animals.

Enjoy Your Work

There is a famous proverb said by Chinese sage Confucius that: Find a job that you love doing and you will never have to work a day in your life. To me, I absolutely agree with it. This proverb tells us that if you can find a job which you are really interested in, you will enjoy your work time, and the work seems to be endless joy to you.

Nowadays, more and more people find their jobs not derive from their hobbies, but in order to earn more money. Sometimes the jobs which they are working are endless headache for them. But in order to live better, they have to do these. But if we ask ourselves: which is more important? The joy from work or the salary you earn from working? Specific to me, I will not hesitate to choose the former. As everyone knows, we spend a lot of time on working in our whole lives. If you don't like your job, how can you be happy? Some people have the similar experience that if you don't enjoy your work, this emotion will get into your after-working time. Hence, you sometimes can't live happily even after work. In addition, if you are not interested in your job, it's much harder for you to do well in it. If you don't do it well, you may lose confidence and dislike your job more. The worse, the worse. As a matter of fact, our lives are quite limited, you don't have enough time to enjoy them. Therefore, for me, I will choose a job I really love.

I have a friend who really loves dogs. But some irresponsible parents abandon their dogs on streets because of different reasons. She sympathizes them a lot. So she decided to help them. After she graduated from her university, she joined an organization which aims to help abamdoned small animals. Her university is quite famous in China, but her salary is only normal because of the type of jobs. However, she enjoys it a lot, she thinks her effort is worthy, and she have gotten much joy from her job.

If I have a chance to choose, I want to be a gymnastics coach. Gymnastics means a lot to me, I have loved it since many years ago. But I didn't have a chance to practice and so far I haven't enough opportunities to get in touch with it. That's why I want to be a gymnastics coach. I think that's the only way for me to feel the charm of this kind of sports. If my dream can come true, I will completely enjoy my job and life. What a happy thing!

Enjoy your work and life, maybe this is the most important thing during your whole life.

My dear mum and dad,

I really felt sad when I received your reply. You are worried about my marriage with an American guy because of the cultural difference. I concede this point, because we grew up under different culture backgrounds, there must be some conflicts. But I don't really think it's a problem, we can combine our different culture and also I can learn some American culture. That is not bad for me.



In addition, you mention that the reason why you disagree with our international marriage is the different languages. However, if I marry him, I can improve my English much faster and my English level will be much higher than now. Forthermore, I know my mum is really interested in learning English, but she has little chance. If I marry him and stay here, she can come to America constantly. It's also a great chance for her to improve English. Moreover, my English is not that bad now, I can communicate with him quite well. Hence, I don't consider this as a barrier for us.



The last but not least point you memtion is the divoice rate. I know the divioce rate is quite high here, especially between international couples, but I think it depends on the specific couples. I really consider him as the best choice for me. He is so handsome and strong, also he always takes good care of me, so I have confidence to say that we can be in love forever. There are many good examples for us. A lot of our friends who are international couples lead a very happy life, such as Sean Cochran and his wife Lisa. So please don't worry about the divoice rate.



I really want to try, please give me a chance. There is a proverb in China says: Give me a chance, return you a miracle. If I even didn't try, I will regret forever. Although I know there will be some difficulties and uncertain aspects between, I think I can overcome them and lead a happy, bright and colorful life. Please trust me!

He quotas a couple of sentences from a citizen named Spoor, who supports the of same-sex marriage. The author holds the same opinion, he thinks that everybody should have the same right. As far as I am concerned, I think this same-sex marriage policy should be approved. Everyone is equal from the very beginning of life, everybody has the equal right to choose his or her own sponse, whethwe same sex or different sex.

Serena ends Venus reign in Doha

Williams sisters met in the final of Doha Championship. Finally, the younger sister defeated her older sister and won the first prize. Both of them had some problems with their knees, but Serena did better and controlled the whole match. Serena thought she served well, but her sister almost can get every ball back, she considered Venus also did very well in today's competion. In addition, a lot of athletes who had the chance to participate this championship were suffered from injury, including Dinara Safina, Vera Zvonareva and Azarenka.

This article is about a man named David who fell in love with a Chinese girl and they got married finally. He found that he need to learn more about chinese wedding customs. The passage inreoduces us three aspects of wedding customs, they are the red day, harmony between heaven, earth and humankind and the marriage registration procedure. Red is the most important color in the Chinese wedding ceremonies, people use red a lot, because they think red equals lucky. The ceremony shows a key philosophical principle, that of harmony between heaven, earth and mankind. In China, weddings are almost the busiest things, people prepare for them for a long time. Weddings are not only just for the couples, but also for their parents and friends.

journal 11 Research Questions

Although the research paper is a little bit difficult for us to do, it is absolutely beneficial to us. We searched a lot in Wikipedia in the class. Because my topic is about the differences and similarities about wedding customs between China and America, I typed "wedding" into Wikipedia, and got a lot of information, such as Chinese usually sell their daughters, but Americans don't, and Americans always hold their wedding ceremonies in a wedding chapel.

Because I just got married three months ago, I know a little about Chinese wedding. I also learned some from Internet and TV about American wedding. For instance, we both have an engaging ceremony and both wear wedding dress. But there are also some differences, for example, in China, we usually wear our traditional dress in the wedding ceremony, but in America, they just wear wedding dress and suits. However, what I have learned is so limited that I want to study more.

To be honest, wedding is a kind of science, it is worth to be studied. It is so wide that I cannot study all parts of it, so I just want to learn more about the wedding custom, such as the license, the process of the wedding ceremony and some other parts. I think they are quite interesting.

Maybe the research is not so easy, but I am looking forward to that experience. I am sure I will learn a lot from it and get ready for my university study!

My Favorite Topic for Research

There is a famous saying in China: What impresses you most is what you have experienced. I absolutely agree with that. If you onlylearn something from our books, it cannot give you deep impression. Specific to me, I just got married three months ago; so I am interested in the similarities and differences of marriage among countries.

Marriage is a popular topic, which almost everybody has already or will experience. When talking about the similarities, I think the most similar point is that we all marry with our lovers. If there is no love between you and your sponse, your marriage probably won't esist for a long time. There also exists another important similarity: we usually hold wedding ceremonies, in which we invite our relations and friends and have a good time together. Although marriage is a worldwide topic, they are not quite similar in each specific country.

I am more interested in the differences in dstinct countries. I have already learned some from books or TV shows.In some countries, hosts only provide a little food and drinks in wedding ceremonies while there are a lot in other countries. In addition, there is a significant ceremony before the formal wedding ceremony in some countries, but there is either no or brief ceremony in other countries. However, what I have already known is to limited, I want to learn more about it.

I just experiences my significant marriage three months ago, and I found it very interesting, including the process you prepared for it and the formal ceremony. That is one reason I want to choose this topic for my research this semester. Another reason is that there are students with different nationalities in our class and school, and most of us are facing this matter.So, they know a lot about marriage. I am sure I can learn pretty much from them. These two causes lead to my decision.

Maybe I will encounter many difficulties during the period when I will do my research, but I think I can enjoy the whole process. I hope I can gain much joy and learn lots of knowledge from it. I look forward to the research!

American food-my favorite choice

What is you favourite food? Some like Chinese food because it is delicious and you can many choice.Some like American food, because they like fast meals and fast life. Specific to me, I prefer to the latter,and I think American food is also pretty decilious.

From my perspective, American food not only include hamburgers, but also comprises French fries and other delicious choices.I like the parties which were held in my apartments, they enjoyed bacon, soda and other tasty food. I like Chinese food, but I like American food better, especially French fries.

There are at least two reasons which lead to American style of eating. Firstly, there are abound of potatoes, tomatoes and bread here. So people have few choices besides eating them. Secondly, America is a fast rhythm country, people here usually have much work to do. Hence, they don't spend too much time in cooking. These two causes both lead to the American eating style.

Although American food is fast and delicious, it also causes some negetive effects. The main consequence is that there are many overweight people in America; because American traditional food such as humburgers, salad, they all contain many calories and too much fat. Because of eating them everyday, they become fatter and fatter. The most important problem is that if a person is over obesity, this can lead to many physical diseases, including cardiopathy. Another negetive effect is that because of limit choices in American food, people will be sick of eating them every day, they want some food special to eat. That's why other countries' food was introduced to America. Fast and delicous are charactoristics which American food has, but we also need to face its passive effects.

Every country has its own style of eating.They all have both positive and negetive sides. The most important thing is that we should absorb their positive aspects and try to aviod their passive parts. However, I love American food, I think its advantages overweight its weak points.

Half Full or Half Empty?

If I give you a half bottle of water, will you consider it as half full or half empty? I think it depends on your attitude. If you are a optimist , you may see it as half full, by contrast, if you are a pessimist, you may see it as half empty.

There is a famous saying:A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. That means if a pessimist encounters a chance, he usually thinks it as a difficult, he just considers the difficult part of the chance. On the other side, if an optimist meets a difficulty, he always regards it as a chance, he likes to overcome the challenge and conquers the difficulty.I completely agree with it. The attitudes between them are quite different.

If I can make a choice, I will not hesitate to choose the latter. In my view, it is better to consider a difficulty as a chance than thinking a chance as a difficulty. Take me for instance, when I was a child, my parents forced me to play piano, in fact I didn’t like it at all, but I knew it was beneficial for my future. So I usually encouraged myself: Whatever how hard, I must uphold. When I encountered a complex program, I fostered myself to see it as a chance for me. Finally, I passed the tenth grade, it is also the highest grade in piano. Hence, if you hold an optimistic attitude, it will probably help you succeed.

On the other hand, if you hold a pessimistic approach, chances seem as difficulties to you. My brother sometimes is a pessimist. He is weak at mathematics, so when he does his maths homework, he considers all the exercise problems are difficult, but if he thinks about them carefully, he can solve many of then. Maybe every question is a chance for him, but he regards it as a difficulty. In my view, if he can alter his attitude, he may find much fun in maths and will do better.

Life depends on your attitude to some extent. If you see it as a chance, it may be a real chance to you, by contrast, if you consider it as a difficult, is may change to a difficulty. Therefore, I suggest us to hold a optimistic attitude, only in this way can we make our life more colorful and better.

Birds of a Feature Flock Together

I am a girl who like making friends, so I have a lot of friends. But among them, the most special friend of mine is Xiang Xing, she is working in Beijing now. At first sight, she was quite different from me, but as time went by, I find actually we have plenty of similarities.

The most important character of us is liking to help others. If we see somebody is in help, we will not hesitate to aid him, whether he is our friend or not. Let’s take our experience for example. When we were in high school, once we saw an old man was struck by some adolescents, we decided to help him by instinct, although we knew we may in trouble. But neither of us hesitate to assist the aged man. We both consider kindness as the most important factor in making friends.

Another important similarity between us is enterprising. We both study hard and want to make our life better. As everyone knows, high school life in China is quite bitter, but we understand we must overcome all difficulties in order to entry the best university. We always encourage each other: Study hard and make progress everyday. These are my best friend and I, two common Chinese girls, although what we own is so limit, our dreams are ambitious. We want to make our life more colorful through our effort.

When talking about hobby, that is the most different character of us. I like sports best, especially gymnastics, I cannot bide to stay at home for couple of days. But she can, she is a quiet girl, her hobbies are reading books, watching movies and surfing the Internet. She can do these from day to day, without outside activities. However, we have a same hobby, that is travelling. When we had a holiday, we usually went to nearby spots or went hiking. Although we have few similar hobbies, we really enjoy the time we hang out.

Although we have some differences, I think the most important factor for friendship is having mutual affinity. She is a quiet girl, I am crazy, but when we hang out, she usually has many topics to talk with me, ranging from studies to her emotion. For example, when we were in high school, she loved a classmate of us, but she was the typical girl who never showed her love up. She only told me and wanted some recommendations. From my perspective, a real friend is a person who can share both joy and sadness with you.

There is an old saying: Birds of a feature flock together. That suits us well. Best friends may have some differences, but they must have more similarities or they should share the same opinion on the most cardiac factors. I highly value the friendship between Xiang Xing and I, I hope we can be best friend forever.

If Animals Can Talk

"My sister, where are you? I miss you, please be quick drive me home." That is a dream I have dreamed many times. That is because my favorite doggy Diandian was lost the same time last year. I really wish my dream would come true. If the dogs can talk, I will first buy cell phones for Diandian and my other two dogs, or they cannot get lost anymore.

I think if animals could talk, it must be more convenient for me to find my lost friend. I love doggies very much, I see them as my best friends and little sisters. Unfortunately, Diandian was lost when she played in the garden. I looked for her for a long time but there was no sign. I cried and cried, but nothing happened. If doggies can talk, it will make me convenient to find her. She can respond to my call and tell me where she is.

If they can talk, it will make us easy to communicate with them. I think I have the responsibility to take good care of them, but I only do this in my own way. I don't know whether they feel well or not, whether the clothes they wear are too thick or thin, whether they like the meals I cooked for them…… In addition, there are many people who kills animals for money. I cannot image the life like that. If the animals can talk, they can communicate with butchers, perhaps the consequence may be different. Hence, if they can talk and communicate with our human beings, the life of them may be better.

If they can talk, I will first ask them some questions about their life: What is your favorite food? Do you like the food I cooked or bought for you? Which kind of clothes do you like best? And do you like the house I furnished for you? These are only the most simple questions, but I think they are quite important because they relate to their day-to-day life. After that, I maybe ask a few questions about emotion and other aspects. Consequently, there are so many questions I want to ask, because they are the best friends of mine and I want to communicate more with them.

I always miss my favorite doggy, Diandian, although she got lost for a year. I often dream she can talk and tell me where she is. We human beings cannot talk many many years ago, but now we can. So maybe that is only a dream today, but I believe it can come true someday in the future.

I Want to be here

I Want To Be Here

“Actually I don’t want to go, actually I want to stay here and experience every season with you……” That’s a song I often hear, although it has been popular for a couple of years. When I hear this song, I usually miss my parents, husband and little dogs.

I first heard this song when I was in middle school, but I think it just can reflect my mood now. I left home for university when I was 18 years old. I haven’t lived with my parents for five years. As they gradually become older, I want to accompany and take care of them, the older they become, the stronger the idea comes. Hence, when I hear this song, I usually miss my parents most.

As to my husband, I have the same feeling. As you know, I got married just before coming here, even I didn’t have time to spend my honeymoon. Chinese people believe that new married couple should be together. But in order to studying and making us life better, we decided to be separate for a few years. You can imagine how much I miss him. Consequently, I really don’t want to come here because of my parents and husband.

In addition, I also miss my doggys. I see them as my little sisters. We played together, ate together and sometimes slept together. In my eyes, they are not dogs but my friends. I fear that when I go back home, they cannot recognize me or don’t want to play with me because they may think I abandon them for several months. I want to accompany them end to die. Therefore, when I hear this song, the homesick feeling rises from my deep heart.

I always listen to the song on the way home or late at night. It makes me homesick, the only thing I want to do is calling and talking to them. But I know I must go ahead. I often encourage myself that wipe the tears and continue until you succeed.

The Happiness of Enjoying Four Seasons

People often say that sunshine is the most valuable thing in the world. But I say that sometimes rain and snow are more valuable, because they give living beings the strength of life and make us cheerful.
Sometimes rain is cherishable,but it is crucial to the growth of crops. There is an old saying in China: Spring rain is as expensive as oil. Because there is usually little rain in spring, but crops need water to grow. Without enough water, crops may die or cannot harvest in autumn. Autumn is a havest season. A little rain may benefit to the harvest. And it also make farmers comfortable, because it is still a bit hot in autumn, if there are much sunshine, but no rain, farmers will feel too hot and incomfortable.
Summer and winter are the most exciting seasons in the whole year, because of the sunshine and snow. In summer, the most expectative things are enjoying the sea breeze and swimming in the sea. But if you can enjoy these in any season, it seems to be less expectative. Winter is the most mysterious season of the year. When I was a child, my mother often told me some fairy tales which happened in winter. As I gradually grow up, I find the most interesting game for me is having a snowball fight with my friends. I can forget all worries and feel like I were a kid. Consequently, summer and winter make me feel cheerful.
In my home country, there are four different seasons with different charactors. Spring is the season which ground begins to wake up. There are usually much sunshine and breeze in summer. Leaves fall and the weather begins to be cool in autumn. Winter is often filled with snow. I like the weather in my home country, it do benefit for a lot of things including crops and make us feel cool.
Although lots of people like sunshine, I prefer to different-charactored seasons. We have different feelings in four seasons. That makes me feel cheerful and it is good for living beings.

Don't Be Afraid of Fear

Lifted by an elevator, walked to the bridge and then jumped off, I fell 300 feets before the bungee cord caught me. That was a experience of mine when I was forteen years old. However, I am still afraid of recollecting that undergoer because I am quite scared of heights.
I often ask my friends, how could they have such courage to commit suicide by jumping off a tall building? They tell me that is because God is calling him, not because they have such courage. I think I can agree. Heights mean endless risk even death to me. When I look down from many-storied buildings, fear arises spontaneously. I fear that the windows may be broken and I may fall down. I am afraid that I can’t see my friends and families any more. As a result, even if I know the windows are safe enough, I still fear to stand near there, because I am scared of heights.
Truly speaking, sometimes we must face our fear, but how to overcome the fear? There are two suggestions. First, we should adjust our mental status. We can tell ourselves that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Once I went to Happy Valley in Beijing, I was afraid of playing Roller Coaster ,but my friends told me that if I can not overcome my fear, I will not enjoy the joy which they bring to me. I decided to try, it wasn’t as frightened as I thought, it may be really just our mental’s problem. Second, please keep practicing. I think one day if I am used to feel heights, I may am not afraid of that, so keep practicing is the best way to overcome my fear. Consequently, we should try to adopt these solutions to face and overcome our fears.
I acknowledge that I am afraid of heights. It makes me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. But I must face the fear correctly, I should make a change and I wish one day I can say ‘no’ to my fear.

American Public Transportation

In China,there is an old saying ,says if you want to be rich,mend roads first. The firse time I arrived at Los Angeles,the strongest impression is there are so mang cars,but only few people.All roads were filled with speeding automobiles.America is the most developed country in the world,it has the best roads.Driving a car here is pretty convinent.
When I arrive in Fullerton,a lot of parkings come to my sight.Whatever you are a student or a professor,driving home is so commen that nobody will be surprise at it.
I lived with a friend of mine two weeks ago,but now I just moved into a nearby apartment .Because I haven't got a driving licence,I ride a bicycle to school everyday.But I plan to buy a car in three months,because I think it is much too inconvenient if you don't drive a car.In the USA,cars are like our legs,you can go nowhere if you don't have legs.
From my perspective,transportation here goes a little bit extremely.There are so many cars but very few buses and subways.It may be difficult to say whether this situation is benefit or harmful.On one hand,it is commen for residents to drive to work or home,cars make their life handy.On the other hand,little public transportation brings much trouble to international students like us.It's impossible for us to buy a car in the first several weeks.We must endure the inconvenience for couple of days.
In my hometown,there are much public transportation as well as many cars,it is convenient for most people,including residents and students.Public transportation is pretty cheap,taking subway only costs 2 Yuan.you can go nearly everywhere by public transportation.However,there may be much more traffic jams in China,because of too many buses and bikes.
So, I think it is not easy to say which transportation system is better,they both have advantages and disadvantages.What is more important is to take advantage of strong point and improve our weak point. Only in the way,can we make our life better and more colourful!

My hobby is sport,I like basketball,diving and swimming very much,but my favorite sport is gymnastics.Though there are many perfect gymnastics players in China,I like Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin best!Besides sport,my another hobby is travelling,there are plenty of places of interest in China,especially in Beijing.You are all welcomed to come to Beijing,come to China!
My dream is to run my own business in either China or America.Before coming here,I opened a on-line shop at http://www.taobao.com.%20i/ sold many kinds of goods for pets,including pets clothes,pets food,pets medicine and so on.This is just for hobby.I am interested in dogs.However,my dream is to run my own business,that is why I come here to study economics.After this American Language Program,I will begin to study master's courses in this University.
I think I am a brave girl,but I 'm afraid of snack.I see it is a horrible animal.Last time I went to the zoo with my friends,I cried when I saw lots of snack.,a lovely rabbit was among them,it was the food for those unly snacks!What a pity!
